Seasons Of Change

Dear Addie,
This week, big sister Clara was home from college for spring break, and it was a beautiful reminder that with the change of seasons often comes great transition, as we can’t help but relish in her presence at the brilliant, independent adult she has become.
When the cool, crisp air starts to warm, it feels like standing at a fork in the road, like some new and unknown adventure awaits! Two paths, both full of wonder, waiting to be discovered. A few weeks ago I talked to you about holding onto your fork, because the best was yet to come. I guess just like a fancy meal we get a variety of different forks in life, but I digress. All we have to do is accept the newness and forge ahead… though that’s often easier said than done.
Having all five of us together again is a forever-welcomed time. It feels like just yesterday we were asking what color popsicle everyone wanted while blowing bubbles in the backyard, and then, in the blink of an eye, we were adjusting to Clara spreading her wings and leaving our nest for her next great adventure, bringing our five down to four.
In your world, where from people to things routine and structure thrive, this was a big adjustment—and an additional one we hadn’t fully anticipated when she would returned. Did you wonder where she went, or why she was suddenly just one day gone? Or how long she will stay this time? It’s a lot to process in your world even with preparation of it all.
This week, big brother Gabe stood at the fork in the road and made a choice for his next big adventure. It was another reminder that in just a few short months we will adjust again, this time down to three.
Addie, with the change of the season we know yet another big transition is, in fact, coming. I know it can all feel real big and very hard, but just remember that even when we go down to three, a party of five is what we will always be.
One team, one dream.
Forever and always.
Love,
Mom
