Change

Dear Addie,

This week we had your 13 yr check-up. I know what you're thinking, um Mom, my birthday was in December...

um, yeah. Anyway...

As we were sitting in the room waiting on the Dr I couldn't help but think how much has changed without me even realizing it. I mean there was a time I thought we’d just stop going to these visits because your anxiety was so bad and the stress almost wasn't worth it, but here you were sitting actually laughing about what I don't know. Come to think of it the last couple of doctor visits we've had for various reasons in the past few months were much of the same, calm and smiles. But I can't recall when it all changed. I can remember traumatic emergency room visits leaving tired, bruised, and every ounce of defeated, but when did we get to this point, back then I never thought we'd be here and yet here we are. Time is such a wild thing, isn't it? Add growth and patience and there's so much room for change.

“Remember the only constant in life is change.” - Budda

Clara's "Grief" artwork

Tonight we attended big sister Clara's last high school art show. An event that sets a reminder of yet another big change that is on the horizon when she heads off to college and will be less present in our day-to-day lives. A change that I'm not even sure how to prepare you for as she's been a constant from your day one. A change that even I'm hesitant for if I'm being honest. But with so much unknown of what's to come, there is one thing I do know, our family motto of One Team One Dream doesn't just live within these walls it lives within us wherever we are.

As we prepare for this next big change and all the big feelings that may come along with it just know that sometimes it's as simple as time that helps us adjust to our new normal.

Remember always, Addie...

You are loved here,

You are loved there,

You are loved everywhere.

…and there's always facetime ;)

We will get through this next change together.

Love,

Mom
