We Walked

Dear Addie,

This past weekend, we walked.

After years of therapy, trying to find our place in a world that can often feel unwelcoming, we walked.

We understand what uncertainty and the struggle to hold on to hope feels like, so we walked.

Because nobody wants to need a walk for something in their life, we walked.

Because as a human race, we are far better together, supporting and loving one another, we walked.

This past weekend, we participated in the Foundation Fighting Blindness Vision Walk 2025. There were crowds of people, loud music, few dogs, and Daddy even gave a speech on a microphone—all well-known sensory assaults for you that typically make these events difficult. I had my trusty bag of sensory fidgets, extra clothes, snacks, and a plan for the nearest exit already. However, despite everything I saw and prepared for that day, what stood out the most was your hard work and dedication on full display. I witnessed the years of therapy and determination you’ve put in, right in front of me. There was no drama, just a day truly embodying our family motto: One Team, One Dream supporting others.

My sweet girl, always remember that in a world where you can be anything, always lead with love, be kind, and help others in any way you can.

I am incredibly proud of how far you have come, Addie. Keep working hard; this world is a better place with you in it. Some may see you as different, but you will never be defined as less.

This past weekend we walked and you did an amazing job.

Love you always.

Seeds of Hope

"In fields of doubt where shadows play,

We sow the seeds to light the way.

A hopeful heart, a gentle deed,

To those in need, we plant the seed.

With open arms, we lend an ear,

Wipe away every silent tear.

In unity, we find our strength,

Together we go to any length.

Through selfless acts, we cultivate,

A world where kindness won't abate.

For in each soul we touch and aid,

A garden blooms, where love's displayed."
