Dear Addie,

I will never pretend that we don't face challenges on this journey, but most days we simply exist in "our" normal. This normal is filled with music, dancing, and plenty of salsa—I'm not even joking about that. While there are many aspects of our normal that may seem challenging to others, often eliciting the response, "I don't know how you do it," I sometimes realize that certain things others consider challenges are actually easy for us.

Allow me to explain.

This week, we had some routine blood work done—a task that often raises a parent's anxiety levels, as many children aren't exactly fans of needles. However, some might be surprised to know that these moments are usually anxiety-free for us. You not so eloquently plopped yourself down in the chair and extended your arm to the nurse, who was a bit taken aback and giggled. She walked you through each step of the process while speaking directly to you. You sat still, never flinching, and simply observed what was happening. When it was all finished, I asked, "What do we say to this nice lady?" looking for a "Thank you" to which you instead enthusiastically replied, "Love you!" This brought the biggest smile to the nurses face which led her to proclaim that you were the best patient of the day! Yay Ad! Look at you baby girl!

This week was uneventful and just kinda normal - music, dancing, salsa and getting the best patient of the day (verbal) award ;) Great job Addie!

I love you so very much.

Mom

Addie can have a dance party whenever she wants requesting her favorite songs on the Google Dot.
