Dear Addie,

Can we just get a do-over on summer, please?

This week, having exhausted all our options to find relief from what seems like snowballing symptoms and side effects from a previously diagnosied cyclical vomiting syndrome, I find myself inevitably writing this letter next to your hospital bed. Ever hopeful for relief, yet saddened by how this has unfolded for you. It feels like you've been dealt a blackjack hand for a game you thought was UNO, but plot twist: we're playing chess, so you don't need those cards anyway and now you have to learn the new game rules. It's all enough to make your head spin. Just when you think we're getting somewhere—bam! Another brick wall.

Addie, I know this summer has felt incredibly long. The tests have been a lot, and the treatments even more so. However daunting, exhausting, and, dare I say, frustrating life has been lately, we won't stop until you are better.

You keep resting baby girl, we'll keep advocating.

We all love you very much.

Mom
